Bangladesh Inflation Rate Eases in August Bangladesh's annual inflation rate slowed to 10.49% in August 2024, from a near thirteen-month high of 11.66% in the previous month. Prices moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (11.36% vs 14.1% in July), transportation (4.29% vs 8.27%), clothing and footwear (8.99% vs 9.11%), furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (7.85% vs 11.26%), and recreation and culture (9.14% vs 11.04%). Meanwhile, costs increased at a faster pace for housing and utilities (10.59% vs 8.86%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (18.13% vs 14.83%), health (13.72% vs 13.27%), communication (9.64% vs 6.97%), education (7.37% vs 6.15%), restaurants and hotels (9.76% vs 5.59%), and miscellaneous goods and services (15.38% vs 15.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose to 2.6% in August 2024, the most in a year, from 2.17% in the previous month. less 2024-09-16
